Finite Element Analysis

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a modeling method that discretizes a structure (or any tested specimen) into parts to determine performance. Almost all computer structural design programs today use FEA to determine engineering solutions.

SBCRI can marry the empirical (test) data with analytic (model) results. The test data is used to verify engineering and modeling assumptions made in the FEA model (or FEM, Finite Element Model).

Project dependent, a sufficient quantity of test data will allow interpolations (and in some cases, limited extrapolations) to use assumptions made to analytically predict or design the performance of other structures.
