Through the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), SBCRI can calibrate test results to accurately predict real world performance in a variety of settings.  

Through computer modeling, SBCRI can simplify even complex building material products (concrete panels, for example, which can be made of concrete, steel and insulating foam) to a few basic layers and then calibrate the overall performance of the product to conservatively predict the behavior exhibited during actual testing.

With a software model calibrated to actual performance, it is possible to interpolate performance of the product in various settings with confidence.  Further, the calibrated model can even allow extrapolation, leading to further innovation and design.
