Bending Station

SBCRI’s Component Bending Station provides a very flexible framework within which to test anything from dimensional lumber and foam to small-scale wall details and sheathing.  The station can accommodate elements up to 22’ long; the load actuators and load cells allow for the application of up to 28,000 pounds of load.

Testing can be done on this station under the following standards:

  • ASTM C165 – Standard Test Method for Measuring Compressive Properties of Thermal Insulations
  • ASTM C203 – Standard Test Method for Breaking Load and Flexural Properties of Block Type Thermal Insulation
  • ASTM C293/C293 M – Standard Test Method for Flexural Strength of Concrete (Using Simple Beam with Center Point Loading)
  • ASTM C1609/1609 M – Standard Test Method for Flexural Performance of Fiber-Reinforced Concrete (Using Beam with Third Point Loading)
  • ASTM D143 – Standard Test Methods for Small Clear Specimens of Timber
  • ASTM D198 – Standard Test Methods of Static Tests of Lumber in Structural Sizes
  • ASTM D1037 – Standard Test Methods for Evaluating Properties of Wood Base Fiber and Particle Panel Materials
  • ASTM D1761 – Standard Test Methods for Mechanical Fasteners in Wood
  • ASTM D3043 – Standard Test Methods for Structural Panels in Flexure
  • ASTM D4761 – Standard Test Methods for Mechanical Properties of Lumber and Wood Base Structural Material
  • ASTM D7147 – Standard Specification for Testing and Establishing Allowable Loads of Joist Hangers
